International Special Clinic (国际诊疗（特诊）部)

Shanghai Children’s Medical Center (SCMC, 上海儿童医学中心), a Grade 3A specialist children’s hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was established in 1998 through a partnership between the Shanghai Municipal Government and the World Health Foundation (SCMC about page, 2026-07-07). In 2010 SCMC became the first pediatric hospital in China to achieve JCI international hospital accreditation; in 2013 it completed a JCI re-survey, at that time becoming the first specialist children’s hospital to pass JCI’s teaching-hospital evaluation — both milestones are stated in the SJTU Medical School affiliated-hospital page (SHSMU page, 2026-07-07). Whether JCI accreditation has been renewed after 2013 has not been verified in the dossier research — the current status would need to be checked against the JCI official directory (www.jointcommissioninternational.org) before relying on it as a current credential. In 2017 SCMC was approved as one of the co-building institutions of the National Children’s Medical Center (SHSMU page, 2026-07-07).

International Special Clinic Services

The International Special (VIP) Clinic has operated since 2001 and is located on floors 13 and 14 of the main building (SCMC international clinic page, 2026-07-07). It serves children aged 0–18 (SCMC international clinic page, 2026-07-07). Clinic types available include general pediatric consultations, specialist expert clinics, child health screening, vaccination clinics, and integrated Chinese–Western medicine consultations (SCMC international clinic page, 2026-07-07).
